Berkeley HeartLab, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Celera has a laboratory facility in Alameda, California. BHL provides advanced blood testing and analysis services for early detection and treatment of heart disease. These tests provide patients and physicians with detailed information needed for early heart disease detection, better prevention, and more personalized treatments. Our unique, patented blood testing technology has established us as the market leader in heart disease risk analysis and coronary artery disease management.

Senior Software Developer

Alameda, CA

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with end users, customers, project management and system architects to define, specify and review system requirements.
  • Participate in the design and specification of both internal and customer facing systems using industry standard best practices.
  • Design, develop and configure software applications in client/server and web environment.
  • Write professional-quality documented code.
  • Work with software QA staff to ensure quality deliverables.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • 6+ years experience in developing web based and client-server applications with a heavy reliance on performance, scalability and reliability.
  • Proficiency in Java, XML, JSP, Java Servlets, HTML, JavaScript and other J2EE technologies.
  • Experience in web application frameworks like Struts, Tapestry, WebWorks or similar frameworks.
  • Must have experience using EDI, Integration Engine tools (preferably ORION Rhapsody).
  • Experience with relational databases. MS SQL Server 2000 database is a plus.
  • Experience with formal configuration management practices.
  • Experience developing applications in a regulated environment like CLIA, cGMP.
  • Experience with Laboratory Information Systems is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment.
